Bold, dramatic, theatrical. These are just a few of the words one could
use to describe the work of John Agee. Whether it is a large ethnically-inspired
necklace or a delicate pair of 18k vermeil earrings, John's work bears
the mark of self-assuredness.
Opposite materials join seamlessly to produce pieces that are at once
completely new and yet classic in a refined and luxurious way: champagne-colored
pearls with petrified wood; 18k vermeil and turquoise cabochons that
have strong, striking black patterns; and a polished sterling and matte
18k gold pendant with strands of jagged and irregular shell beads.
John's inspiration is derived from a variety of sources such as African
and Chinese art, and the organic forms in nature.
But he is inspired primarily by some of the great personalities in the
history of fashion and society: the model and actress Marisa Berenson,
legendary Vogue editor Diana Vreeland, and the eclectically glamorous
American socialite, Millicent Rogers, to name just a few.
A native of Texas, John graduated from New York's prestigious Parsons
School of Design. After living and working in Los Angeles for ten years,
John realized a longtime dream and moved to Paris where he opened his
first boutique in the fall of 2006. Situated on the Left Bank in the
heart of the Saint-Germain, this jewelbox of a
boutique is the perfect showcase for John's particular brand of modern
exoticism and casual luxury.
